Who we are

The John Gale Horton Foundation celebrates Shreveport’s enduring place in American music. We preserve historic recordings, photographs, and artifacts while empowering new voices through scholarships, residencies, and education.

Our upcoming John Gale Horton Memorial Museum and Musical Heritage Center will honor Louisiana’s great artists, showcase new talent, and serve as a gathering place for music lovers, historians, and the community.

Our values:
Honor the Music – preserve what made it timeless.
Share the Story – connect generations through memory and sound.
Inspire the Future – give young artists a stage and a purpose.

The Foundation is led by Jacob Donaldson, alongside Winston Hall, Billie Jean Horton, Rhonda Neil, Kathryn Bishop, Tahira Alexander, Peggy Hellyer, Benjamin Gessner, Josh McMillen, and Betty Gunter of the Horton Estate. Together, we’re keeping the music alive, right here where it was born.
